In a bid to produce the most talented and potential youth players for the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has planned to organise a conditioning camp with the participation of the newly-picked 45 players after the vacation of the Eid-ul-Adha to form an Under-19 Cricket Team.

Through proper grooming round the year, they want to bring out such a crop of players by whom they can go in the next 2022 extravaganza to defend their coveted World Cup that they clinched in 2019 in South Africa beating the then defending champions India.

The BCB Games Development Committee has decided to arrange the camp at the Bangladesh Krira Shikha Prothistan (BKSP) for which they have sent a letter to BKSP DG on Wednesday seeking his permission to this end.

As of now they are waiting for the positive decision from the BKSP, the state-run sports organization of the country.

The authority of the BKSP sees it as positive because the vacation is going on there like the other educational organizations of the country due to the devastating coronavirus pandemic that created mayhem across the world since December 2019.

From that point of view, it is safe and risk free having a conditioning camp at BKSP. Following the guidelines of ICC and the health ministry, the BCB has planned to orgainse the camp with their 45 players.

BCB Games Development senior manager Abu Emam Mohammad Kawser admitted the matter, stating that those who will get through the test of the coronavirus will join the camp.

“We’ll test cricketers and support staff keeping them in Mirpur. Those who will pass the test will join the camp at BKSP,” said AEM Kawser.

“If the BKSP wants, we will bring a chef from the BCB. Those who will step into the camp will not come out of the campus and no one will enter the campus from outside. Now we’re waiting for the answer from the BKSP authority,” Kawser told Cricfrenzy.com.

Kawser said the cricketers will be asked to attend a test for medical check-up at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from where they will pick only those players who will pass the corona test, starting from August 16-19.

He also informs that they have plans to start the camp from August 21 following their reporting on August 21.

“The players will hold fitness and skill training for the first three weeks. They will have a string of practice matches after which the squad will be whittled down from 45 to 30,” he added.
