CCDM planning to host DPL in September-October in controlled environment

Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Wednesday that they are eyeing to host the Dhaka Premier League, country’s traditional Dhaka-based club tournament in September-October in a controlled environment.
DPL was suspended in the third week of March in the aftermath of Round-1 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Following the abrupt halt, the bulk of the local players demanded to restart the league as DPL is the main source of income for the majority players of the domestic circuit.
CCDM chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed told Cricfrenzy that they are planning to resume DPL from October and that it will be held in a controlled environment.
“We’re thinking of launching DPL after Eid probably from September-October in a controlled environment,” said Inam.
“I’m talking with BCB in this regard [whether we can play DPL in controlled environment in October in Cox’s Bazaar and BKSP]. We’re likely to take a final decision about DPL in the coming days,” he said.
Cricket around the world is slowly and steadily trying to get back on its feet after being suspended since March or before in the wake of the devastating coronavirus pandemic that created a mayhem across the globe.
The entire calendar was shredded by the virus outbreak and officials around the world are still looking for that little something which would kickstart the beleaguered sports.
So far, only England and West Indies seem to have made progress in this regard as the latter travelled to England and took part in the opening two Tests in the three-match Test series and that too in a controlled environment, dubbed ‘bio-security bubble’.
