BCB not worried with postponement of Asia Cup, WT20

Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Tuesday that they are not worried with postponement of Asia Cup and WT20 as they believe they will get back the money when the tournament commence eventually.
ICC, the world cricket apex body postponed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia 2020 yesterday due to the mounting COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, ACC, the Asian cricket apex body had also postponed the tournament, which was scheduled to hold before the ICC extravaganza.
Bangladesh have no bilateral series within the next few months either at home or away conditions after the postponement of the home series against Australia and New Zealand along with the away series against Pakistan, Ireland and Sri Lanka.
It was expected that BCB will have huge financial loss but according to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury that will not be the case as they are expecting to get the money in future.
“The financial distribution among ICC members is not based on the tournament. The ICC member distribution is done on an annual basis. That way we will get the right’s fee, maybe we will have less for the time being as the tournament will not be happening now,” he informed.
“But later when the tournament will take place, it will be adjusted. This is something how it works. This is the matters of ICC and ACC,” he added.
About the financial loss of Australia and New Zealand, Nizamuddin said, “The two domestic series that we have postponed are Australia and New Zealand. These two series are not our financially profitable series. Both were Test series. Excluding expenses, there is not much profit left. So we have not lost financially from there.”
