Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not allow its players to use the indoor facility of the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna, resulting in the cricketers’ ongoing optional individual practice being hampered.

Cricketers returned to the field after a four-month corona break amid the concern of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Khulna’s SANS is buzzing with the footsteps of the cricketers, where Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were scheduled to have their individual practice under the supervision of the divisional coaches.

In the aspect of the cricketers’ enormous interests, the BCB allowed players to have held individual practice following the rigid health rules and safety protocols after that approval, Cricketers in Khulna region are holding their practice on the second day.

As per the schedule, off-spinning all-rounders Mehidy Hasan Moiraz and Mahedi Hasan did their respective fitness training. But Sohan’s practice was off. Both spinners didn’t use indoor facilities like the previous day.

The SANS authority said they are yet to get permission to open the indoor for the players. Mahedi Hasan came in the morning and held his hour-long running session after which he went to gymnasium for gym work.

Therefore, Miraj stepped into the stadium, where he poured sweats holding an hour-long running session with light stretching. Since then, he has passed the time in the gym.

Even though Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun and Shaiful Islam got chance to use SBNCS Indoor facility, cricketers in Khulna couldn’t get it. They want to hone their skills using the indoor facilities.

“We’re yet to get any directive from the BCB to open the indoor facility for the cricketers. But we’ve prepared the indoor. We will open it after getting the directive from the board,” Mustafizur Rahman Russell, venue-in-charge of the SANS in Khulna said.

“For the nonce, we’ve given permission to the players to use only the SBNCS indoor in Mirpur. We’re to follow the rigid health rules and safety protocols for which we’re taking some more times. But the indoor in Khulna will soon be opened for the players,” BCB grounds and facilities national manager Syed Abdul Baten said regarding the matter.
