Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan said he is overwhelmed to return to cricket and hold outdoor practice after a lengthy break of four months due to the concern of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 10 national cricketers have joined today’s individual practice session though the players outside of Dhaka had to follow certain rules prescribed by the BCB regarding the training.

It’s learnt from the BCB chief physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury that they have set a six-day training module under which the players, especially bowlers could only do the running and gym work, while batters will do running and batting.

“The national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato held talks with the players individually about what they will do in their initial six-day training module. Therefore, we’ve fixed it for them, setting our trainers with them during their individual training session,” said Debashish Chowdhury.

“As per the module, bowlers will do running and gym, while batters will do running and batting to keep them fit,” Dr Chowdhury told Cricfrenzy.com.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has opened four stadiums for the players to have individual training from Sunday. The designated four stadiums are Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium [SBNCS] in Dhaka, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium [ZACS] in Chittagong, Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium [SANS] in Khulna and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium [SICS] in Sylhet.

However, those players who trained today at Dhaka have the opportunity to do some batting practice at SBNCS indoor. They are Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun. On the other hand, pacer Shafiul Islam have done running and gym as a part of his individual training.

But Nurul Hasan Sohan, who had done one-hour running and done gym sessions today at SANS in Khulna, is overwhelmed to be back at the outdoor training.

“Alhamdulillah, the first day went well. As much as I’ve practiced before, it will be useful, but now I can use it more. The satisfaction of returning to the field in my own environment is different,” Sohan told a Bengali web portal.

“The joy is overwhelming. It seems like I’m getting everything back,” he added.

Those who have started the training today are Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Imrul Kayes, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Mahadi Hasan, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mehidy Hasan and Nayeem Hasan.

The six-day training will continue till July 26.
