Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup-winning squad had their first virtual training sessions with the psychologists to maintain the mental health on Saturday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed Bangladesh-origin Canadian psychologist Ali Azhar Khan, who has worked with the national cricketers about mental health issues on two occasions in the past, to conduct the classes with the Under-19 cricketers and women’s team.
BCB opted to take this route as all the cricketers are going through a tough period both mentally and physically without any cricket for around four-month long break because of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to cricketer Ali had tried to show them path so that they can get rid of mental patch that might surround them for long break.
‘’We had the class for a long time and he said many things highlighting some of our psychological issues,’’ said a cricketer on request of not to be named.
‘’He explained everything by giving example in and out of the cricket. Showed many motivational stories, class has been around for two hours,’’ he said.
We have more classes left, a total of three sessions will be held. Speaking of something different today, he has talked about motivational aspects and gave examples of Tamim-Sakib Bhai, spoke inspiringly about a few more players of the national team. He has taken classes as a psychologist for many players from foreign countries, such as tennis or hockey players, he told and explained about those inspiring stories,’’ he said.
‘’The main thing we are doing is what problems we may face mentally when we return to cricket after corona. Like, for a long time we're out of the game when we went down to play and saw that a lot of things are not going well, he's talking about those things when they come to mind. He talks about how to handle it all. He explained how to handle mental patches,’’ he concluded.
There are two more classes, or sessions left. Sessions will be held 18,20,22 on this day
