While men’s national teams’ cricketers from different cricketing countries have started individual and group training and games despite having concerns of the deadly coronavirus pandemic after a long-stretched-break, Bangladesh women team’s pace spearhead Jahanara Alam is mulling to start her training.

Keyed by Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, the experienced pace bowler expressed her keen interests to hold outside fitness training for which she is raring to go to the field like veteran keeper-batsman.

“It’s different to practice on the field. You can’t compare it to working out on a treadmill. It works really well and refreshes you when you do drills on the field. I’m a pace bowler and you know how important fitness is for a pace bowler,” said Jahanara Alam, who is the first women’s player of Bangladesh to step into the ICC XI as the pace bowler despite showing a shocking result in the 2020 Down Under World Cup.

“Mushfiq bhai’s work ethics can serve as an inspiration to any cricketer and I was inspired to do the same when I saw him practicing on the greenery and flashy ground, but I have no scope for that,” Jahanara told Cricfrenzy.com.

“The coronavirus suddenly changed everything. I was bored but now I’m trying to be positive. Can you imagine, for the past four months I have been locked at home? Initially, I only did free-hand exercises as I had no gym equipment and as a result, I gained 2kgs,” she added.

Inspired by wicketkeeper-batsman’s fitness training at home, the unmarried pacer has purchased a treadmill to keep her fit.

“I purchased some training instruments, including a treadmill. As of now, I’m fully focusing on my fitness because it would be unwise to work on fitness instead of skills while we will return to the cricket field,” he opined.

“Fitness is a big concern for any pacer, so I have to be fit and Mushfiq bhai is a great inspiration to this regard,” she continued.

During the corona break, Jahanara like other men’s and women’s cricketers spent her time as much time as possible through doing her favourites’ activities like cooking and eating ice cream.

“I love to cook and I love to eat different food. As an athlete, I need to sacrifice many of my favourite items due to my diet. However, the break afforded me the luxury to eat my favourite ice cream and the quantity was not insignificant,” she said with a smile.

“I already started to follow my dieting chart again so there will be no more ice cream in the near future,” she concluded.
