Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan feels that the BKSP coaches can play a vital role to make students conscious more about their role and what they should do now for their betterment.
Shakib also said they should give them a clear picture of their possible future and the outside world of BKSP and inspire them towards it.
Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), the national sports institute from where most of the big stars of the national team have come out from the BKSP.
Shakib Al Hasan, who is also a former student of BKSP, was invited in a recent online class programme by Nazmul Abedin Faheem, technical director of the sports institute to take an online class to the current BKSP students amid the surge of the dreadful coronavirus pandemic.
In that online session, Shakib brought up some important aspects for the coach which might help them create the next generation of cricketers in a better-organized way.

The 33-year-old veteran cricketer thinks that the BKSP students should get to know what they are going to face outside the BKSP and should be prepared that way.
“A student in BKSP gets into the Under-19 game while studying there. Those who want to play they can play those who don’t want to. But the difficult time they faced when they came out, I think everyone is talking more about this. So we have to think about whether there is anything to be done in that place because such facilities are not available outside. And such facilities are not possible to provide in BKSP either,” Shakib Al Hasan said.
“There are so many students that all together are very difficult; it’s a very normal thing. But if they can be given the idea about that and they should go with such preparation, then this problem might not happen later because you can dive in the BKSP field if you want because the field is full of grass. You can’t do it in Abahani or any other field where the First Division is played. So those preparations should be given to them. So that they know what problems they have to face,” he added.
The left-handed all-rounder then shared his personal story during his days in the BKSP where he was travelling by bus for site-seeing during his Under-17 days.
Shakib was told by his coach Abedin not to take money from his house anymore and got aware about who can be in his circle and what would be his possible future which had a large effect on Shakib and made him prepare about his present.
And Shakib thinks that if a player doesn’t know or get to have a realization on these sorts of areas, his cricketing life will then become very difficult. But if the students get a clear picture from the coaches about what they will face in the long run of their career then they will not face the difficulty.
“I don’t think they, the players who came in and out of the national team, knowhow and which circle they have to be in, what environment is important to them. So it’s very important for a coach to understand these things. In BKSP, a student doesn’t need those but they need these things when they will come out. So it’s really important to let them know at the time that these situations may come up, so be prepared that way,” Shakib added.
“I think those who are prepared will be in a much better position. But for those who are not prepared, naturally if you go to the middle of the ocean and you do not know what to do, but if you know that you’re going to fall in the middle of the sea today then you can be prepared in advance. You will have plans. But if you don’t go, you won't have those plans anymore,” he added.
“I think these things are very important, if we tell the students in advance what things can come from the front, the students will then use their own heads. And usually, all the students who come are from middle-class or lower-middle-class backgrounds. So if they struggle after BKSP, then their life becomes very difficult. Coming to the very end of study time, not all students are such good students. Not everyone will be able to do a PhD like Mushfiqur Bhai. But make sure their life at least goes smoothly,” Shakib concluded.
