Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to resume their competitive cricket with Dhaka Premier League (DPL) with precautions.

BCB director Mahbubul Anam made the revelation while he was talking to the media. Anam said that they are planning to resume cricket in the country from September after observing the overall pandemic situation of the country.

The BCB director also said that they are trying to create their own protocol with the help of the given protocol by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the resumption of the cricket.

He added that the matches which will benefit the cricketers will get the most priority as like the DPL which is also the main source of income for the bulk of the cricketers.

“What I want to say is that the BCB is already in the process of doing this, the ICC already has given a medical protocol and the BCB is also going to discuss it and create their own protocol and the game will start according to that protocol,” Mahbubul Anam said.

“Secondly, the BCB must think, because no matter how much the topmost authority of cricket is BCB in the country, cricket is for the cricketers. The three of us here, we have all played cricket, and we always believe that Bangladesh cricket will only improve if we nourish our cricketers and see their benefits,” Anam told a Bengali media.

“Looking at the cricketers, we will keep an eye on the tournaments that are must for them and give the most priority to the games in which they will maintain their social status, and have their bread and butter,” he added.

However, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, another BCB Director and its Game Development Committee Chairman, also voiced the same, stating that there might be a possibility of seeing two seasons of Premier League colliding. Where it should be sorted out by the clubs and the players where BCB will work as a third party and help them regarding the situation.

“We know the Premier League is the bread and butter for the players. We want the Premier League to start. If that happens, the players will then be financially helpful,” Khaled Mahmud said.

“Therefore maybe in one season, two Premier Leagues will be seen to happen, and then the players and the clubs have to go through a negotiation stage,” Sujon also said.

“Because BCB is a third party, here the player and the club are the first party and the second party, there will be a mutual agreement between them and we will help them understand how we can have two Premier Leagues in one season,” he added
