Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning a discrete training programme for the cricketers to bring them back in cricket again. Even the BCB is also trying to provide a bio-secure environment training facilities for the players.

Though the government eased down the virtual general holidays like lockdown since May 30, the BCB is still reluctant to end the cricketing shutdown as they think the risk of the contagion is still at large.

The BCB is now advancing on preparing a comprehensive plan as per the given guidelines by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to resume the outdoor practice.

Admitting the matter to an English daily on Tuesday, BCB chief physician Debashis Roy told that their medical team has been asked to make few training plans.

Following the ICC’s guidelines, Debashis said that the medical team is going to prepare some training modules which will be finalised in the upcoming board meeting.

“There are different modules of training, Sri Lanka is doing the full residential model only with bowlers while England is doing it another way,” Debashis  Roy said.

“If a player wants to train alone, he will then be given a certain time slot to run it on the main field, or use the indoor. In the next slot, someone else will train, so there will be no interaction or contact,” Dr Roy told the media.

Dr Debashis said the number of support staff who will help the cricketers in their training will also be limited scale.

“We’ll be limiting the number of support staff during the training, only a minimum number of people will be allowed in one session,” the chief physician said.

“If BCB wants to hold a residential training programme for the whole team then the medical team will also make a plan of creating a bio-safety bubble for the players,” he also said.

“If there is any full residential training programme ahead of any upcoming series or training camp, we have to put all the players, officials, supporting staff inside a bio-safety bubble so that nobody goes out and creates a risk of virus transmission,” he added.

However, BCB senior grounds manager Abdul Baten said they are going to start the process of disinfecting the relevant areas from today.

Informing the preparation, Baten also said they are well equipped with logistical and manpower to disinfect the training area after each session.

“After every session, all the areas must be disinfected. We will be cleaning up the dressing room, gym area, indoor nets and other facilities. When the training resumes, we will follow the ICC protocol,” Abdul Baten said.

The ground manager said they are also working to prevent the threat of dengue.

“It’s the time for dengue fever. We’re cleaning up the whole area, not letting any water-clogging, using proper medicine sprayers so that the danger does not enhance any longer,” he concluded.
