Shakib Al Hasan, ace all-rounder of Bangladesh Team has said that winning a World Cup is totally a combined team effort, a team goal; it’s not an individual target or performance.
The all-rounder had passed a dream World Cup in 2019 in England where he alone carried the team on his back, scoring 606 runs just from eight match-road strings. With the ball he claimed 11 wickets where the team was under the shadow. So,

While giving an interview to a leading Bengali media, Shakib said that he set his sights on playing the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup rather than 2027.
He also said that the team had a golden chance in the 2019 World Cup but the opportunity is still lurking out for them as the 2023 World Cup will be in the sub-continent soil where it will be tough though but there will be a chance for them.
“I think we had a chance in 2019. It’ll also be in 2023 since the tournament will be in Asia. We’ll have a great opportunity. Although playing in Asia is a great opportunity for the Asian countries and the outside countries also perform well in Asia. So the competition will be much tougher, said Shakib Hasan, who is now in the USA to stay with his neonatal second child.
The 33-year-old all-rounder also said that the time difference between the 2023 World Cup and 2027 World Cup is so much. Considering the work, the effort he had to make will be immense but if he just focuses more on 2023, it would then be an easy option.
“This is a team target. Therefore, the focus will be that if I can win the World Cup before the end of my career for Bangladesh. I want it to happen in 2023, I don’t then have to bother for 2027, I don’t have to think about the game or focus on it. 27 mean seven more years, six and a half years there 23 only two-two and a half years or three years. So 23 is a very easy option,” he concluded.
