Bangla Tigers appoints Klusener as Team Director

Bangla Tigers, a franchisee team of Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket Tournament has appointed former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener as its team director.


Bangladesh-based franchisee officially signed a deal with Klusener for the fourth season of the ten over based cricket tournament which is scheduled to be got underway on November 19-28.


Bangla Tigers’ franchisee team Chairman Mohammad Yeasin Chowdhury made the disclosure of Klusener’s appointment to Cricfrenzy over the mobile phone yesterday.

“Bangla Tigers is working to make a stronger team for the tournament than the previous years. For this reason, they have added former renowned player-turned-coach Lance Klusener to the team management. I think his cricketing experience and knowledge will lead the team into the right direction,” Yeasin Chowdhury said.


The former all-rounder ended his cricketing career eight-year back. He made his debut in 1996 and retired from cricket in 2004.


The medium pace bowler played 49 Tests coupled with 171 ODIs for South Africa before hanging his boots.


Currently, he has been acting as head coach of Afghanistan Cricket since September, 2019. Before this, he has worked as the batting coach of Zimbabwe.


Once he had a possibility of working with Bangladesh Cricket. But this time he is coming as the team director of Bangla Tigers.


Bangla Tigers stunned everyone by becoming third in the last season which was their first season out of three seasons of Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. The team gets a massive fan base by their extraordinary performance. Last year along with national team player, Anamul Haque, Abu Haider Rony, Farhad Reza, Junaid Siddique, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Mahedi Hasan and Arafat Sunny there were foreign players like Thisara Perera, Shehan Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka), Lian Plunket, Tom Moores (England), Hasan Ali (Pakistan), Grand Homme (New Zealand), Andre Fletcher (West Indies), Rilee Rossouw, Robbie Frylinck (South Africa), and James Faulkner (Australia).
