Bangladesh Cricket Board decided to remove Shakib  Al Hasan branded umbrellas of a non-profit organization from Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.

SMC, one of the sponsors of the ongoing Test between hosts Bangladesh and Zimbabwe besides promotional board inside the stadium had also put umbrellas that are used for the camera persons of the broadcast team and photographers covering the match.

However, on the third day of the game, Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] officials decided to remove the umbrellas as it had Shakib’s photo on it.

“Shakib’s photo [on the umbrellas] can be a reason. There are some regulations of an international venue and one of them is suspended cricketers cannot be involved for promotional activities. I am however not sure if this is the reason at the moment but it can be. It might have been different if it was a in a football field,” said BCB media committee chairman Jalal Younus to the media on Monday.

Former Bangladesh Test and T20 captain Shakib has been serving a ban imposed by the International Cricket Council. In October last year, the left-arm all-rounder was found guilty for not reporting a corrupt approach and was handed a full ban for a year and a 12-month suspended sentence.
