The Bangladesh Cricket League, country's lone franchise-based four-day tournament starts at different venues of the country from Friday.

In the first round of matches, BCB South Zone will take on BCB North Zone in Chattogram Zohur Ahmed Stadium while Islamic Bank East Zone will take on Walton Central Zone at Sher-e- Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

BCB decided to change the domestic calendar and move forward BCL this year because of the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, scheduled from Feburay7, as the board wants to prepare the Test players by playing the four-day competition.

This year BCL will be played on a single league basis that used to double league in previous year.

‘’Of course I enjoy it and when you are captaining, you are always involved in the field. It is same without being a captain, but being a captain you have some responsibility. I like to take that responsibility. When I was in under-19, I had the same responsibility. I am enjoying it and I hope I will carry it well if I get the responsibility,’’ Nazmul said regarding getting the captaincy.

‘’The team we have, of course the expectation is very high. If we can play our natural game, then of course it will be good. And captaincy, I also had this responsibility with this team in previous year. I know many players and have a good understanding with the coach. So am enjoying it,’’ he said,

‘’If we think as a team, combination has been good. Who will join the national team and who we will stay, still I think very much capable. Everyone is well experienced. I don’t think there will too much problem. We will go forward with a good plan,’’ he added.

‘’Of course, BCL is a high competitive tournament, very challenging because every team is balanced. So it is very good tournament for every players. If the batsmen score runs or bowlers pick wicket that gives so much confidence as bowler or batsman. So if runs are scored and bowlers take wickets then obviously it will be good for us,’’  he said.

The four teams is equally matched for this year BCL while the cricketers who failed in the beep test  on the beep test did not qualify to take part in this year competation. Experienced player Tushar Imran country's highest run-getter in first-class cricket, failed to make a cut in the players’ draft of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) 2020 after failing to touch the benchmark in beep test.

There was no place for Sabbir Rahman, Abu Hider Rony and Mehedy Hasan Rana, who was one of the stars in the just concluded BPL, in the upcoming BCL.
