Bangladesh Cricket Board included pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman in the list of central contracted cricketers as one of the members featuring in all-format cricketer’s category for 2020.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said on January 12 after the board meeting that the contracted players’ names would be announced soon after sending back the initial list of players by BCB’s cricket operation committee for some changes.

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu further revealed that the list is waiting just for the approval from the board as they have already prepared the list.

“The list is ready. We have submitted it to the board. We will announce after the board approves it” BCB chief selector Nannu told before departing for Pakistan.

Due to suspension obstructions, Shakib Al Hasan has already been dropped off the list while Mashrafe Mortaza also announced to remain out of the list, as he likes to give the young players to have the opportunity to be in the list. With Shakib and Masharafe’s absence changes are expected in the upcoming central contract.

Around 16 players will be contracted in three different formats for the central committee.

As Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad and Tamim Iqbal’s are expected to be contracted for Test, one-day and T20’s there is a surprise inclusion in Mustafizur Rahman as he only featured in one Test among the nine Test Bangladesh played in between 2018 to 2019.

The left-arm fast bowler played his last Test back in March last year against New Zealand after being left out of the playing XI in the first Test of the series.

The selectors looked more interested in constructing their bowling side with Ebadat Hossain and Abu Jayed Rahi but keeping the 24-year-old pacer in the side line.

But Mustafiz managed to regain the trust of the board for his performance in Bangabandhu BPL as he became the highest wicket taking bowler of the tournament with 20 wickets.

Apart from Mustafiz, right-handed batsman Mohammad Mithun is also said to be under consideration to be contracted for three formats.

Mithun is yet to prove his caliber in Test format but the national team head coach Russel Domingo seemed to have enough trust on the right handed batsman.

Inform young players like- Afif Hossain, Aminul Islam Biplob and Mohammad Naim will also be contracted in the rookie list in the central contract.
