Cumilla Warriors pace bowling all-rounder Abu Haider Rony said on Tuesday that he was preparing him for quite some time to contribute with the bat
Rony scored 12 runs off 8 balls with one six and a four from final overs while they needed 16 runs from the last six deliveries.
Rony came into the crease when Cumilla already had 6 wickets fallen but Malan’s presence on the crease was the only positive side Cumilla had in that situation as they needed 24 runs from last two overs.

“I am working on batting for some days. I was preparing myself for these sorts of situations so that I can contribute for my team in winning,” Rony told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Rony explained that he initially wanted to rotate the strike to Malan but his team required more at that situation that forced him to go for big shots.
“The last over was really exciting. And my plan was on how to give Malan the strike. Because he was playing well then,” said Rony
“But when the last overcame in, there was no chance to take single because we required 16 runs off 6 balls. I was also thinking on how to close the gap hitting boundaries” Rony added
Rony said that this win boosted them to give a shot to seal the play-off berth in the tournament.
“This was a very important match for us. In case of a defect in the match, we could be eliminated from the race. We have now four matches at hand and if we can win three, there will be a chance for us. We hope for the best,” he concluded.
