Sabuj Bangla Krira Chakra, a team Dhaka Third Division Cricket League, served a writ petition to the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday to officially declare the tournament standings of season 2019-20 and also clarify the issue over ‘violation of tournament by-laws’.

Jatrabari Krira Chakra emerged as champions in the points table in this edition of Third Division Cricket League while Gulshan Cricket Club was declared as runners-up in the 20-team tournament.

This standing was verbally objected by many of the participating teams and Sabuj Bangla in particular who had finished third this season despite earning 26 points that is equal with Gulshan Cricket Club.

Sabuj Bangla cricket committee secretary Riaz Ahmed Babu informed media on Monday that the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis is yet to declare the standings and claimed it is being delayed due to a disorder created by the tournament committee.

According to Sabuj Bangla officials, two sets of laws were followed in this edition of the Third Division league as on one occasion teams were promoted to the super league on head to head basis while it was not the same when runner-up was decided.

On this occasion CCDM decided that teams with most wins will be given preferences over the other team.

“In the first phase of the tournament Narayanganj Cricket Academy got to the Super League based on the head to head after they were equal with Dhaka Cricketers,’’ Reaz told reporters on Monday

‘’In Super League, Sabuj Bangla were at equal points with Gulshan Cricket but this time round tournament committee had put Gulshan Cricket on top of Sabuj Bangla stating that teams with most number of wins will be promoted as runners-up,’’ he said.

Sabuj Bangla was ahead of Gulshan Club on head to head basis but failed to promote them in the Second Division as the second place for league was judged with most number of wins.

“We have a very simple quarry. How come two rules are being followed in the same league? If tournament by-laws are to be followed, then Narayanganj Cricket Academy would not have qualified for the super league. How come they are following two rules to solve one similar incident,’’ he added.

According Read the recipients of the legal notice have seven working days to reply back. In case of a no-reply from the tournament authorities, the issue will automatically go to the court.
