Khulna Tigers skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said that Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League is open for all to go all the way to the final.

Two upsets were staged at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on January 21 as Khulna Tigers tasted the first defeat in the tournament when Sylhet Tigers beat them by 80 runs to earn their first win in the tournament.

Table-toppers Chattogram Challengers were beaten by Rangpur Rangers in the following match only validated that it was the a day for the underdogs in the BBPL as it also happened to be the first win for Rangers in the competition.

Both teams ended their four-match losing streak in BBPL and now need to win at least five wins from their remaining six games to claim a spot in the play-offs.

‘’We made the tournament interesting as it open for all [to claim a spot in the playoff],’’ Mushfiqur told reporters after their loss against Khulna Tigers.

This is T20 format and the team that keep losing has nothing to lose [so they can be dangerous]

‘’The team knew that from the start.130 or 140 is not going to be enough and they should hit all the way and score runs and when a team think in that manner  and think of scoring 170 to 180 runs they can be very dangerous,’’ he said.

‘InT20 cricket you need only one or two batsman to beat any team and they played well. They have made five changes and it worked for them,’’ he said.

Mushfiqur added that they need to regain the momentum when they take on Rajshahi Royals in their next match, scheduled at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on December 23.

‘’Everybody wants to keep momentum in any format and it feels bad if you cannot keep that momentum,’’ said Mushfiqur.

‘’In T20 cricket you cannot win in every match and the team that played well won but we have to put a better fight in our next game,’’ he said.

‘’First, six over is always very important and we could not do anything in that time against Thunders,’’ he said

‘’If we can score 70 runs in six overs than something good can happen and I think we can learn from our mistake and we should try to win the next match [by minimizing our lacking],’’ he said adding that he is not resting on his laurels despite playing well in the ongoing BBPL making 153 runs with an average of 76.50 runs that includes a match-winning knock against Rajshahi Royal

‘’What happened few days back I forget about that and you people [media] made me remember that today,’’ said Mushfiqur.

‘’I always try to contribute in team winning cause. I want to do that as captain of the side and if the opportunity comes I want to play for the team and helps the team win,’’ he said.
