Players look excited as teams started their preparation for the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League at the academy premises on Wednesday.
The participating teams are - Jamuna Bank Dhaka Platoon, Premier Bank Khulna Tigers, Rajshahi Royals, Rangpur Rangers, Sylhet Thunder, Cumilla Warriors and Chattogram Challengers. Dhaka Platoon and Khulna Tigers will be sponsored by Jamuna Bank and Premier Bank respectively while Chattogram Challengers will have the backing of Akhtar Furnishers. Jivani Footwear Company will sponsor Sylhet Thunders while IPC and Mind Tree will sponsor Rajshahi Royals.
It was the first official training sessions of the teams and everyone from players to officials seemed extremely motivated to leave no stone unturned so that they can make a mark in the special edition of the tournament that is scheduled to start from December 11.
The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium is preparing to host the mega opening ceremony on December 8 through which the countdown of country’s father of the nation’s 100 birth celebration will start across Bangladesh.
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the opening ceremony of the tournament that will graced by some of the leading media personalities from home and abroad.

The tickets are on high demand for the mega opening ceremony event of BBPL and it appears the craze will only grow stronger in the coming days as some exciting brand of cricket is expected to display during the Twenty20 event where some leading cricketers will come to show case their expertise.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is looking forward to make sure that they diminish all the speculation successfully that started cropping after they announced that they will host the tournament all by themselves.
The decision to cut ties with the franchises with whom they had completed their opening cycle comprising six years never looked a good proposition as it only meant that BCB have to take care of everything that was earlier managed by the respective franchises that includes hotel booking to arranging balls.
After talking with several team official Daily Sun understand that board is providing all the logistic support and by doing so helping them to great extent as they don’t have to worry about things that was considered to be a major headache for the franchises.
‘’BCB is providing us all the logistic support. We are just paying them the sponsorship money and they are making sure that everything is in right place so that we can play without bothering about other things like where we will stay or how we will manage our practice,’’ said a director of a team.
The best part of the special edition of BBPL is that it had given the players much required financial security as they are confident that they will receive the money as they will be played by BCB.
Earlier payment remained a major concern for the players but now that is not the case and as a result they are expected to express them in a better way as they won’t be losing their sleep on their payment.
‘’We are not worried about payment as we are confident that BCB will clear us in due time,’’ said a leading cricketer.
‘’They have got sponsors and we are sure that these sponsors have the ability to run the show successfully,’’ he said
