Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said on Sunday that high profile coaches around the world showed their interest to be the mentor the national cricket team, which made them upbeat to find out a good coach as early as possible.

The board has been in intense search for a coach after they parted ways with Steve Rhodes, following Bangladesh’s dismal performance in the World Cup in which they finished at eighth amongst 10 teams.

BCB then posted a circular to find a coach on July 14, with the last date of the application on July 18.

Nizamuddin Chowdhury said several high profile coaches have already applied for the position and some others showed their interest in various ways.

"We got some responses. Some high profile coaches have contacted us. With the T20 cricket flourishing, most of the high profile coaches want to coach domestic T20 side around the world apart from taking a full time role for a country but we need a full time coach,” Chowdhury told the reporters on Sunday.

Bangladesh faced this kind of problem in the past too that the coaches wants to clause to allow them coach in domestic T20 cricket.

As they were not willing to allow their coach to work with other T20 teams, they didn’t find a coach as their desire.

However this problem again surfaced but BCB remains hopeful of finding a way to acquire their desired coach.

Chowdhury however said many of coaches didn’t apply formally but have been in touch with them, which actually made him hopeful about finding a good coach as soon as possible.

"Maybe a lot of them are interested but we don't know that yet,” he said.

“When we know from different sources that someone is interested then we contact them. Sometimes someone is interested but they don't know that yet or their agent doesn't know that. Sometimes the situation is like that. So, it was an open invitation. We are also communicating with others apart from this. Those who will be shortlisted we will be discussed after which we will finalize the matter,” he remarked.
