The title-deciding sixth round of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) set for a thrilling finish after Islami Bank East Zone left league leaders Central Zone in a cornered position while Prime Bank South Zone continued its upper-hand over BCB North Zone on the second day of the final round at different cities across the country on Tuesday.

Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy complemented Abdur Razak’s  seven-for with a 155 not out and Al-Amin Hossain struck a breezy century to help South Zone end the second day on 407-5, taking a lead of 114 runs over North Zone at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

After resuming the day on 21-1, South Zone were left in a precarious state being further reduced to 57-3 as pace bowler Ebadat Hossain and left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam were on song.

But Anamul and Al-Amin helped the side get back on track.

While Al-Amin adopted a strategy to attack the bowlers right from the words go, Anamul chose to be restrained and let his partner go on berserk.

In an innings lasted for 119 balls, Al-Amin smashed 11 fours and three sixes before he was retired hurt.

Anamul found support in Mahedi Hasan, who emulated Al-Amin stroke ability to continue ticking the scoreboard rapidly. Mahedi clubbed seven fours and three sixes in his 76 ball-84 before Ebadat Hossain had him caught by wicket-keeper Dhiman Ghosh.
