Sri Lanka Cricket will take a decision regarding their home series against Bangladesh in the next EXCO meeting, said sources on Saturday.

Sri Lanka tackled coronavirus pandemic very well in the South Asian region and now is eyeing to resume cricket in their country.

India is supposed to tour Sri Lanka in June and July and according to media reports SLC have already requested BCCI not to postpone the series comprised of three ODI’s and three T20.

Earlier, SLC said that they are planning to take a decision on the series against Bangladesh and India by May 15 though there is doubt considering ICC recently postponed ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier which was scheduled for July 3 to July 19 in Sri Lanka.

Though SLC emailed to BCCI they did not take a similar approach for Bangladesh and sources close to the development confirmed that it will be taken next Friday in the meeting of SLC exco’s.

‘’Probably they are [SLC] is waiting to see the response of BCCI and take a decision but it is likely to be postponed,’’ said the source of SLC.

Bangladesh is supposed to tour Sri Lanka in the end of July comprising three-match Test series but BCB chief executive communicated that they did not receive any kind of letter by SLC as yet regarding the series.

In the email send to BCCI, SLC has informed that they will follow quarantine rules and matches can happen without any crowd as well though BCCI insisted that they will be following government rules in terms of traveling and they will not travel to Sri Lanka without government permission.

‘’Look even without crowd SLC is ready to host India as there is a matter of earning revenue and more so because all the matches are in white-ball cricket,’’ said the source.

‘’If BCCI agrees to play the series it is one thing but if that is not the case certainly you can say tour of Bangladesh is all set to be postponed,’’ he added.
