South African spearhead Kagiso Rabada has reclaimed the spot in the ICC Test Rankings among the bowlers. With 902 points he is now 15 points ahead of England bowler James Anderson in the rankings.

The pacer has now become the fourth South African bowler to have earned over 900 rating points in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings. Vernon Philander’s collection of 912 points in 2013 still remains the best by any South African bowler.

However, Rabada will not able to play the next two Tests as he was given four demerit points in the second Test against Australia. He was also fined 65 percent of his match fee following two incidents in that match.

The 22-year-old made physical contact with Steve Smith in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test in the ongoing series and that incident earned him three demerit points, he earned another point as he gave a send-off to the same batsman by screaming right in the face of him.

Rabada had been given another demerit point in South Africa’s Test series against India this year. The seamer has reached the threshold of five demerit points before within a month due to which he has been suspended from two Tests. The rule is to hand such bans if a player reaches that many demerit points within 12 months.

In the ICC Test Batsmen’s rankings, Australia skipper Steve Smith has retained his top position by staying 31 points clear of India captain Virat Kohli.
