Centuries galore in Dhaka Premier League

The Dhaka Premier League was blessed with three centuries in
the three different games. The best of the lot, however, was Shadman Hossain’s
match-winning 144 not-out for Shinepukur Cricket Club.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Sheikh Jamal
Dhanmondi made 262 runs before being bundled out for 49.5 overs. Hasanuzzaman and Ziaur Rahman scored 61
and 79 each to help the score reach 262.
Mohammad Saifuddin, Sujon Hawladar, Shuvagata Hom and Abdul
Gaffar took two wickets each with Afif Hossain taking a wicket himself.
In response, Shinepukur won the game comfortably with a
brilliant century from Shadman Hossain. He was extremely well supported by
Towhid Hridoy’s 50 from 56 balls. Sohag Gazi and Robiul Haque were the only
ones that got the wickets.

Meanwhile, Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity lost to Legends of
Rupganj. Batting first, Khelaghar scored 259 with the loss of four wickets.
Robiul Islam Robi top-scored with 116 from 138 balls and was backed up by
Mahidul Islam Ankon’s 125-ball 80, which might have been a bit on the slower
side.
Mosharraf Hossain, Mohammad Sharif, Mohammad Shahid and Asif
Hasan took one wicket each to help the score under 260.
In response, a great team effort with the bat helped Rupganj
reach the target quite comfortably. Mohammad Naim and Naeem Islam scored 82 and
70 to lead their team to a good victory. Ashok Menaria and Rafsan Al Mahmud
took two wickets each.
Finally, in the 48th match of the tournament,
Brothers Union thrashed Kalabagan Krira Chakra by a huge margin of 131 runs.
Junaid Siddique starred for the Brothers with a superb 123 from 111 balls.
Myshukur Rahman scored 96 runs to help him.
Abul Hasan, Muktar Ali and Mahmudul Hasan took a wicket
each, but couldn’t turn up with inspirational performances.
In response, Kalabagan fell like a pack of cards with
Ashraful depicting their sorry state with a duck. Muktar Ali scored 62* while Tasamul
Haque scored 44. For the Brothers’ bowlers, Suhrawadi Shuvo was the pick of them with three wickets while Shakawat Hossain and Mehedi Hasan Rana took two
wickets apiece.
Alok Kapali and Khaled Ahmed also finished with one wicket to their names, respectively.
