In what turned out to be an easy win for the India A women’s team, Banita Roy led her side to a 32-run win against the Bangladesh A women’s team. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, India put on 215 runs from the allotted 50 overs.

Banita Roy topped the charts with a well-paced innings of 76 runs. Rumana Ahmed, Salama Khatun and Shaila Sharmin took the two scalps each for the Tigresses as India finished with 215 runs on board after the loss of 9 wickets.

In response, the Tigresses put up a good show, but could never really mount a challenge as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, they couldn’t keep up with the required-rate and could only amass 183 runs from 50 overs after losing 6 wickets.

For Bangladesh A, Lata Mondol was the highest scorer with 43 runs under her belt. She was followed by Rumana Ahmed, who finished with an unbeaten innings of 39 runs from 34 balls, and Nigar Sultana’s 32 runs.

Rumana’s brave-hearted attempt wasn’t enough as her end-innings slog couldn’t cover up for the extremely slow run-rate of the previous batters. Nevertheless, the Tigresses can take inspiration from the fact that they stood against their rivals and could improve on the lacking from the first game.

India A now lead the three-match series 1-0 with two more games to go on 5th and 7th December respectively.
