Reports reveal that no franchise has made any payments to players before the tournament began. Despite repeated reminders, BCB President Faruque Ahmed admitted that no concrete steps have been taken to address the issue.
A national newspaper reported that players had not received a single penny of their promised payments before the tournament. Following the first match, Durbar Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque Bijoy confirmed the report, stating that no player had been paid.
Speaking to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Faruque said the board is in constant communication with the franchises.
“We’ve been in touch with every franchise from day one, reminding them about their financial obligations. We’re addressing the matter, but this is not something I can explain in black-and-white terms. You have to consider the circumstances of the past four months. That doesn’t mean players won’t get paid. We’ve taken separate steps and are continuously urging the franchises,” he stated.
Faruque also emphasized that the board is considering the challenges faced by the franchises. “We’re trying to support them so they don’t feel neglected. They are our partners, not just entities under our supervision,” he added.
The situation has sparked criticism, with many questioning the BCB’s ability to enforce its rules and ensure timely payments to players.
