BPL Drama: 15 Runs off one ball and a reversed timeout decision

Two incidents in one frame

In pursuit of a daunting 204-run target set by Khulna, Chittagong’s innings began in dramatic fashion. Khulna’s bowler Oshane Thomas delivered the first ball, which turned out to be a no-ball, and Chattogram opener Naeem Islam was caught off it. Surviving the dismissal, Naeem couldn’t capitalize on the free hit but later smashed a six off another no-ball.

Thomas continued his erratic spell, bowling two wides and yet another no-ball, from which Naim struck a boundary. Remarkably, by the time a single legitimate delivery was recorded, Chittagong had already conceded 15 runs, leaving spectators in disbelief.

Another peculiar moment unfolded later in the match. After Haider Ali’s dismissal, incoming batter Tom O’Connell took longer than the allotted 90 seconds to arrive at the crease. Khulna captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz appealed for a timeout, and the umpire initially signaled O’Connell as out.

However, in an unexpected twist, Miraz withdrew his appeal, allowing O’Connell to continue. Unfortunately for Chittagong, O’Connell couldn’t make the most of his reprieve, as he was caught by Miraz off Mohammad Nawaz’s first delivery in the same over.
These unusual moments added a layer of entertainment to an already thrilling match, showcasing the unpredictable nature of the BPL.
