Khulna beat Chittagong despite Shamim's blash
Shamim Hossain hits 78 off38, CK
In the first inning, Mahidul Islam Ankon lit up Mirpur with a blistering knock, setting a new record for the fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi player in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as Khulna posted a formidable total of 203 for 4.
Australian opener William Bosisto anchored the innings with a composed 75 off 50 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes. This marked a remarkable turnaround for Bosisto, who had managed only 102 runs in his previous 11 T20 matches.
The real fireworks, however, came from Ankon. The local star smashed 59 off just 22 balls, including six sixes and one four. Ankon reached his fifty in just 18 balls, setting a new benchmark for the fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi player in BPL history.
In response, Chattogram Kings faced a top-order collapse, slumping from 44 for 3 to 56 for 6. Shamim stood as the lone warrior for his side, scoring a scintillating 78 off 38 balls, including several powerful strokes to keep Chattogram in the hunt.
However, his dismissal in the 19th over sealed the game, with Chattogram being bowled out for 166.
Left-arm pacer Abu Hider Rony was the pick of the bowlers for Khulna, claiming 4 wickets for 44 runs in 3.5 overs. For Chattogram, Aliss Al Islam impressed with figures of 2 for 17 in 4 overs.
