Bangladesh cricket’s biggest poster boy may not feature in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) but Shakib is actively participating in franchise cricket around the globe.
Recently, Shakib played in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, followed by the Lanka T10.
The draft, scheduled for January 11, will feature several global stars, including Mustafizur Rahman, Usman Khawaja, David Willey, Jason Roy, Sikandar Raza, Tom Curran, and Dawid Malan.
The upcoming PSL season will commence later than usual due to the Champions Trophy, likely running from early April to mid-May. However, doubts remain over whether Shakib, if selected by a PSL team, can perform as a full-fledged all-rounder.
This uncertainty stems from a recent issue with his bowling action. Shakib is currently banned from bowling in international cricket, England, and other domestic leagues outside Bangladesh.
Despite a dull showing with the bat, Shakib’s overall performance with nine wickets for 193 runs for Surrey in the County Championship was impressive.
However, this very match proved costly, as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) subsequently banned his bowling, which led to the international ban.
As Shakib awaits the outcome of his latest bowling action test, questions linger about his future as an all-rounder.
