Mahedi enters top ten T20 bowling ranking, Jaker jumps 85 step
Mahedi Hasan with T20I series trophy
In the latest ICC weekly rankings update, Mehedi has broken into the top 10 T20 bowlers for the first time, securing the 10th spot with 636 rating points. Taskin follows closely at 11th with 630 points, while Rishad and Hasan are ranked 17th and 24th, respectively. Another pacer, Tanzim Hasan, has also climbed to a career-best joint 45th position with Scotland’s Mark Watt.
Mehedi’s stellar performance in the series included 8 wickets at an average of 5.75 and an economy rate of 4.18. Additionally, he scored 37 runs, earning the Player of the Series award. This effort propelled him 13 spots up the rankings.
However, Mustafizur Rahman, who skipped the West Indies tour, dropped seven places to 26th in the rankings.
Jaker Ali stole the spotlight with his batting throughout the Windies series, scoring 120 runs in three matches to top the charts. His standout performance came in the final T20, where he smashed an unbeaten 72 runs with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, earning the Player of the Match award.
This exceptional display saw Jaker make a significant jump of 85 spots in the ICC rankings. He is now ranked 87th, tied with New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.
However, the rankings brought disappointing news for other Bangladeshi batters. Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudullah Riyad, Litton Das, and Towhid Hridoy all experienced drops in their rankings.
Among batters, no Bangladeshi player features in the top 30, while Australia’s Travis Head retains the top spot.
West Indies’ Akeal Hosein continues to lead the T20 bowling rankings.
