Rangpur reach NCL T20 final after beating Dhaka Metro
Rabiul Haque celebrate a wicket, Cricfrenzy
Despite the loss, Dhaka Metro, who had won seven consecutive matches to reach the qualifiers, will get another chance to make the final. They will face Khulna, who eliminated Chattogram in the eliminator, in the second qualifier.
In the qualifier match at Sylhet International Stadium, Dhaka’s batting faltered from the start. They lost their first six wickets for just 66 runs in 14.5 overs.
Opener Imranuzzaman managed 30 runs off 42 balls, while captain Mohammad Naim scored only 11. It was Aminul Islam’s unbeaten 23 off 24 balls that pushed Dhaka to a total of 107 runs.
Rangpur’s chase was far from smooth. Their batters struggled to find rhythm, managing only 62 runs for the loss of four wickets in the first 12.1 overs. However, experienced players Tanvir Haider and Ariful Islam steadied the innings with crucial contributions of 22 runs each, guiding the team to victory.
Rabiul Haque (3-19), who delivered a stellar performance with the ball, was named Player of the Match for his impactful display.
