Under Litton’s leadership, Bangladesh achieved a historic 3-0 series victory over West Indies at home. The wicketkeeper-batter impressed with his tactical insight, earning praise from the coach and teammates alike.
Speaking to reporters in St. Vincent, Litton expressed his willingness to take on the role permanently, saying, “If the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) offers me the captaincy, I am ready. I am enjoying the responsibility. Our bowlers are performing well, which makes my job easier. I also rely on my experience to make decisions on the field, and the bowlers’ execution has been outstanding.”
Despite his leadership success, Litton struggled with the bat, managing only 17 runs in three T20I matches against West Indies. As interim captain, he has led Bangladesh in four T20Is but has yet to make a significant impact with the bat, scoring just 17 runs in total, including two ducks.
Litton, however, remains optimistic about regaining his form. He credited national team assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin for his guidance.
“I’m working on my batting. Playing across all three formats has taken a toll, but I’m trying to improve. Salahuddin Sir has been incredibly helpful. He knows every player well and provides valuable advice. I’m confident I’ll bounce back soon.”
During the same series, Mehidy Hasan Miraz captained the Test and ODI sides, showcasing Bangladesh’s leadership depth. With Najmul’s reluctance to continue as captain and Litton’s strong leadership performance, the BCB may be leaning toward appointing Litton as Bangladesh’s full-time T20I captain.
