So far, the number of Pakistani players participating in this year’s BPL is relatively low, and Shaheen becomes the first big name to join the league, adding star power to the Barishal squad.
Left-arm pacer, however, will be available for Barishal’s first five matches. The Pakistan Cricket Board has granted him permission to participate in the tournament until January 15.
However, there is uncertainty about Shaheen’s availability from the start of the tournament. The BPL is set to begin on December 30, coinciding with Pakistan’s Test series against South Africa.
Pakistan and South Africa are scheduled to play the first Test on December 26, followed by the second Test starting on January 3. If Shaheen is included in the Test squad, he will only be available for the BPL after January 7.
Fortune Barishal fans will be hoping for Shaheen’s participation as his inclusion could significantly strengthen the team’s bowling attack.
