Soumya set to miss first part of BPL due to injury
Soumya Sarkar suffers finger injury during second T20I
The injury occurred in the seventh over of the West Indies innings when Soumya attempted a catch and hurt his right index finger. Following the incident, he did not take any further part in the match, which Bangladesh won to secure the series.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a media release providing an update on Soumya’s condition. National team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan stated:
“Soumya sustained a cut injury on his right index finger while fielding, which required five stitches. An X-ray conducted after the match revealed a subluxation in the affected area. His recovery is expected to take around three to four weeks.”
This injury sidelines Soumya for the immediate future, including the third and final T20I of the series and potentially the start of upcoming Bangladesh Premier League.
