POTM Mahedi praises Hasan’s last over for thrilling win against WI
Mahedi Hasan celebrates a wicket, CWI
Earlier in the game, Mahedi Hasan wreaked havoc on the West Indies’ top and middle order, claiming 4 wickets for just 13 runs. Despite Mahedi’s brilliance, Powell’s explosive 60 off 35 balls kept the visitors in contention. However, Hasan's calm and composed bowling under pressure proved decisive.
Reflecting on the win, Mahedi praised Hasan’s performance, recalling a similar match-winning spell by him against Ireland.
"Hasan has proved himself once again. I remembered his death-over heroics in the Ireland series and believed he could do it today as well. Alhamdulillah, he delivered brilliantly in the final over," Mahedi told reporters.
Despite having the upper hand at 61/7, Bangladesh faced stiff resistance from the West Indies’ lower order. Mahedi credited the team’s hunger and collective effort for the victory.
"We didn’t win comfortably; it was all hard work. Everyone was eager to win, and that determination brought us success," Mahedi added.
This hard-fought win underscores Bangladesh’s resilience in challenging situations, setting a positive tone for the series ahead.
