The all-rounder’s heroics ensured the Tigers defended a modest target of 148, securing a 7-run victory in a closely fought contest.

The victory holds special significance as it came on Bangladesh’s Victory Day, marking a historic moment for the team and the nation. The Tigers now lead the three-match series 1-0.

Mahedi finished with his career-best 4-13 in his four overs as he helped to reduce the hosts to 62-7 before Rovman Powell’s show.

Pacer Taskin Ahmed was the first bowler to find success, getting Brandon King caught for one in the second over.

The off-spinner Mahedi Hasan quickly made an impact, first dismissing Nicholas Pooran (1) with a stumping in the third over, and then removing opener Johnson Charles (20 off 12 balls), who was gaining momentum, with a catch at mid-on in the fifth.

Mahedi continued his brilliance in the seventh over, striking twice to send Roston Chase (7) and Andre Fletcher (0) back to the pavilion, both caught behind, shifting the momentum firmly in Bangladesh's favor.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib, after conceding 25 runs in a single over during the Powerplay, redeemed himself in his second spell by getting Gudakesh Motie caught behind for 6, adding to the West Indies' troubles.

Rishad Hossain then chipped in during the 12th over, dismissing Akeal Hosein for 2, leaving the West Indies reeling with only three wickets remaining.

Then Powell and Romario Shepherd (22) gave them hope with a 67-run partnership, but the Bangladesh pacers held on to their nerves in the closing stages. Taskin got Shepherd to put the pressure back on the hosts.

Powell’s blistering 60 off 35 went in vain as Hasan Mahmud bowled a fine 20th over, taking a couple of wickets along with Powell to seal the fate of the match.

Despite captain Litton Das's pre-match target of 180 runs, Bangladesh failed to capitalize, managing only 147 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, West Indies skipper Powell made the most of the conditions. Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar started with a promising 15 runs in two overs, but Akeal Hosein struck early, dismissing Tamim for 6 off 11 balls.

The next ball saw Litton depart, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 15 for two.

Afif Hossain’s dismissal in the final over of the powerplay added to the woes. Attempting a reverse sweep off Chase, Afif was caught at third man for just 8 runs. Soumya narrowly escaped dismissal after a review overturned a caught-behind decision.

At 30 for three, Soumya and Jaker Ali Anik steadied the innings with a 57-run partnership. However, Shepherd broke the stand, dismissing Jaker for 27 off 27 balls. Soumya followed soon after, bowled by Obed McCoy for a well-made 43 off 32 balls.

With the score at 96 for five, Shamim Hossain and Mahedi Hasan added 49 runs for the sixth wicket to provide some late stability.
