Shakib Al Hasan suspended from bowling in Int'l and overseas competitions
Shakib Al Hasan
However, in a recent press release, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that Shakib is now prohibited from bowling not only in international cricket but also in any overseas tournaments.
The BCB stated that the ICC has recognized the results of the ECB’s assessment. Consequently, Shakib must undergo a re-evaluation of his bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing center. Only if he passes this test and proves that his action is free of faults will he be allowed to bowl in international cricket and overseas leagues.
Per clause 11.3 of the ICC regulations for illegal bowling actions, when a National Cricket Federation suspends a player from bowling in its domestic cricket competitions, the suspension is automatically recognised and enforced by the ICC in international cricket and by all National Cricket Federations in their respective domestic competitions. This applies immediately upon receipt of official notice, without the need for further formalities.
Despite the restrictions, Shakib remains eligible to participate in domestic competitions under the BCB’s jurisdiction, where he can continue to contribute as a bowler.
This development comes as a significant setback for one of Bangladesh’s premier cricketers, and all eyes will now be on his efforts to rectify his bowling action and return to full eligibility.
