Sabbir Hossain’s fifty powered Rajshahi Division to a formidable total, but Tanbir Hayder and Akbar Ali made the chase look effortless. Particularly destructive was Rangpur captain Akbar, who smashed a joint-fastest fifty of the tournament.

In the National League T20 match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Rangpur Division defeated Rajshahi by seven wickets.

Batting first, Rajshahi posted 189 runs, but Rangpur chased it down with two overs to spare. Tanbir Hayder scored 71 off 45 balls before being dismissed, while Akbar remained unbeaten on 68 off 29 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes.

Akbar reached his fifty in just 19 balls, equaling the tournament’s fastest fifty previously set by Sylhet’s Toufiq Khan Tushar.

Chasing 190, Tanbir partnered with Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan to add 54 runs. Rizwan scored 25 before departing, and Abdullah Mamun followed soon after.

Akbar then took charge, batting at an explosive strike rate of 234.48 to finish the match in style.

In the morning’s other game at the outer ground, Dhaka Metro defeated Dhaka Division by 19 runs. Metro captain Naim Sheikh played a key role, scoring 69 off 54 balls, supported by Shamsur Rahman Shuvo’s quickfire 43 off 22 balls.

Despite a fiery start from Rony Talukdar (39 off 19 balls) and contributions from Arif Hossain, Dhaka fell short, managing only 171 runs. Anisul Islam starred with the ball for Metro, claiming four wickets for 38 runs.
