Miraz rises to second in ICC Test all-rounder rankings
Mehidy Hasan Miraz
Although Bangladesh did not play any Test matches last week, and Miraz did not feature in action, his rise was influenced by Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in the Adelaide Test against Australia.
Ashwin, who was ranked second, dropped to third after a below-par outing, allowing Miraz to move up a spot.
Miraz first expressed his ambition to be the world’s best all-rounder after returning from Pakistan in September. Now, with 284 rating points, he holds the second position, just ahead of Ashwin’s 283 points.
At the top, Ravindra Jadeja maintains a commanding lead with 415 points, while Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is fourth with 263 points. South Africa’s Marco Jansen follows in fifth with 260 points.
With no Test matches for Bangladesh until the Sri Lanka tour in June-July, Miraz’s position will depend on the performances of others, particularly Ashwin, who could regain his spot during the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar series.
