Chasing 295 in the first match of the three-game series, West Indies recovered from a slow start to reach the target with 14 balls to spare. Rutherford’s explosive 113 off 80 balls turned the game around after the hosts needed 161 runs from 114 balls at one stage.

With the score at 16 for 2, Shai Hope and Keacy Carty steadied the innings, adding 67 runs. Carty made 21 off 37 balls, while captain Hope stuck 86.
Rutherford’s innings brought the chase to life despite taking two blows to the helmet.
He reached his century in dramatic fashion, aided by six overthrows in the 47th over, and celebrated by smashing consecutive sixes off Soumya Sarkar.
Though he was dismissed just before the finish, West Indies required only seven more runs, which they comfortably secured to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
