Rashid Khan undergoes lower-back surgery

8 Feb 25Star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan underwent minor lower-back surgery in the UK which ruled him out from the Big Bash League, which begins on December 7.
According to a statement made by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Friday, Rashid, who was instrumental in the team's triumph against England and Pakistan during the World Cup in India, had been operated on by a renowned surgeon in the UK.

"Afghanistan's cricket sensation underwent a minor lower back surgery with the expertise of renowned surgeon Dr. James Alibone in the UK. He has been rested for a brief while and is expected to recover soon," said the ACB statement on X.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Rashid’s Big Bash League side Adelaide Strikers, where he has been playing since 2017, had also announced that Rashid Khan would undergo a minor operation soon. And, he won’t take part in the tournament this season as well.
Rashid, who was part of Afghanistan's spirited campaign in the ODI World Cup in India, had earlier threatened to skip BBL to protest Australia cancelling an ODI series against them
