Litton Kumar Das, Bangladesh premium wicket-keeper batter, who is spending his best time of his career and became a reliable player for the Tigers. Bangladesh Test vice-captain Litton spoke about plans over the upcoming World Cup and Afghanistan Test along with a few other topics during an exclusive interview with Cricfrenzy.

The excerpts of the interview are given below:

Cricfrenzy: This is the year of the ODI World Cup, what’s your and Bangladesh team's plan for the upcoming World Cup in India?

Litton Kumar Das: Every player is excited about the World Cup. We have been playing this format for a long time and will also take a good team in the Asian conditions (India). I think it will be on everyone's mind that we have a big chance at the World Cup. Since there is a Test match ahead, I am not thinking too far now. I am currently thinking about how to play the next Test well.

CF: During this ODI WC year, Bangladesh have to play one or two red ball games in between, is it hard to shift momentum from Test to ODI?

LKD: Look, we have time to play a Test match now. Then there is a break for Eid. I think every player can change their mentality in between that time. Afghanistan will again play in India. So we can change our mind in that break. When you play professional cricket, you have a Test match today then have a break then two days later, you may play in a franchise league. So as a player, you have to adapt to these situations.

BCB president hints who will be the new T20 captain

8 Mar 25
Litton Das has emerged as the frontrunner for new T20 captain

CF: Do you concern about the opening pair ahead of the World Cup?

LKD: See, it's actually a misconception that opening will win you the match. In the last series myself and Tamim Bhai (Tamim Iqbal) didn't get runs and Shanto (Najmul Hossain Shanto) won matches for us. It is a negative thought that if the middle order collapses they are out of form, if the opening is not good, the openers are out of touch. The Pacers are out of form if they don't get wickets. This is incorrect, not every player's day will be the same. If you look at in the Ireland series the middle-order batters did not get a chance to play because Tamim bhai and I have finished matches. Every batter will not pass a good time at the same. If openers do well in the coming days, then will you go to the middle-order batters and ask them why they are not getting a chance? It's not like that, every player has a responsibility, when 11 are on the field everyone has a responsibility. It is a team game, playing well as a team will win the match.

CF: Middle-order batters are now attacking from the very first ball, did Chandika Hathurusingha input this mindset on batters?

LKD: The thing is, it’s an important thing which wicket you are playing on. If you play in Mirpur the runs will not be that much. But if you play in a country like Ireland, then it will be 300-320 runs pitch. When you know the wicket is like that, the body or the mind will act like that. It's not a matter of what someone says or doesn't say. Batters play by looking at the wicket.

CF: Shakib al Hasan has been ruled out of the Afghanistan series due to injury, so there is a big possibility for you to lead Bangladesh team, are you ready for your Test captaincy debut?

LKD: I’m not thinking about it and don’t why there is so much news about captaincy. The board has not decided anything yet. You will know everything in two days. If I’m worthy the board will decide about it.

No description available.

CF: When you were in a bad patch in your career, did you ever think about leading Bangladesh in Tests?

LKD: It's not a big deal what I thought that time. In fact, you cannot always think about the future. At that time my main goal was to turn around from my bad time. I tried that. The future will be better if you can find your form.

CF: Coaches could help to improve your skills but how important is it for a player to think about themselves? Do you think self-realization helped your better performance?

LKD: I think every player thinks like that. You don't succeed just by thinking. Maybe many are not succeeding yet but will be in the future. I think every player thinks. Of course, you should, if you don't you can’t change your mindset. Every player does, I’m not different than that. There will be ups and downs in life but you can never stop thinking.
