Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan believes that the batting will make the ultimate difference in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, starting Thursday at the Zahur Ahmed Chwodhury Stadium in Chattogram with two teams possessing a quality spin attack.

It is highly likely that Bangladesh would go with the recent trend of fielding four spinners alongside just one pacer in this Test since they are playing it at their home den.

But Afghanistan also have a quality spin attack in Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi Zahir Khan and Qais Ahmad, who have already showed their skill in two-day practice match against BCB XI.

“In our country we always bowl   well and when our spinners get the opportunity and get the wicket to their likings, they do well. But again Afghanistan do possess a quality spin attack. So I think that the batting of the two sides could make the eventual difference in the Test match,” Shakib said ahead of the lone Test against Afghanistan.

As has been the case, Bangladesh batsmen also didn’t do well in their wicket because of the extreme spin that the pitch offered. Only Tamim Iqbal had some good record in this sort of track but he is not in the side because of taking a break from the series.

Shakib however still keeps full faith on his batsmen, saying that they are ready to take the challenge.

“Batsmen will face a challenging job to perform well,” said Shakib. “Because their fast bowlers are high standard and everyone know how good their spinners are. So naturally a big challenge is awaiting for our batsman.”

“But I have full faith on my batsmen. The way we practiced in the last two weeks, we can’t ask more. Everyone gives his best from his position. Now if our hard work is reflected in the original match, we can do well,” he remarked.

“The target is to score runs as much as it is possible. That’s the key.”
