Bangladesh MP’s in IPCWC final

The Bangladesh Parliamentarian Cricket team stormed into the final of the  Inter-Parliamentary Cricket World Cup (IPCWC), beating hosts England by 37 runs in Kent’s Beckenham’s Cricket Club field on Friday.


They are now one step away to clinch the trophy of the maiden edition of this tournament as they will take on Pakistan in the final at the same day at the same ground.


Bangladesh scored 183-5 in their 15-over allocation before they restricted England to 146-9 to complete a facile victory.


Members of Parliament, Bangladesh earlier advanced to the semi-final in undefeated way.


They had beaten Pakistan in their first match by 12 runs on Wednesday at Burlington Gardens, Chiswick in London.

Later in second match they crushed All Stars, comprising MPs from New Zealand and South Africa, by 20 runs Thursday.


Batting first, Bangladesh made 129 runs losing five wickets in their stipulated 15 overs.


In reply, All Stars were bundled out for 109.


MPs from eight cricket-playing nations – Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and hosts England –split into two groups is competing in the tournament.


It is the first edition of IPCWC which kicked off on July 9 as politicians from different countries are playing on a different turf in London amid the drumbeat of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.


The tournament is the brainchild of Chris Heaton-Harris, the Conservative MP for Daventry who has organised the tournament in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).



Following the tournament, MPs from different countries will watch the World Cup final between England and New Zealand, alongside Theresa May, at Lord’s in London Sunday.
