When South Africa took the World Cup by surprise, bringing up a spinner to open the bowling against England in the World Cup opener, Bangladesh have no similar plan but they didn’t rule out to go out of the box.
Imran Tahir, the leg-spinner of South Africa became the first spinner to bowl the first ball of World Cup and it paid immediate success when he had caught Johnny Baristow by wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock in the second ball of the innings. England though went on to win, South Africa captain Faf Du Plessis said brining up Tahir in the first over was the plan they set one year ago.

Bangladesh bowling coach Courtney Walsh made it clear that they have no similar plan with regards to who they would bring up in the first over. He said their plan would be decided on the team against whom they are planning.
However Walsh didn’t clear whether it would be pacer or spinner who would open the bowling against South Africa.
“It’s a surprise,” he said.
“Nowadays every team has a different game plan. It worked for them in terms of getting early wicket.”
“It’s something that we have thought off, we have done this type of things before. It depends on the opposition and the players you have. And who you think that can give you the wickets so it’s something that we have to discuss. We can’t rule anything out now, we can start with a spinner and we can also start with two seamers up front. On the day we will assess it and it depends on who we are facing on the opposition.
