Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Thursday that they are expecting Mohammad Saifuddin to be available in their opening game against South Africa despite his back pain as they are planning to make him ready through pain killing injection.
Saifuddin required an MRI for back pain that he sustained against India during the warm-up that forced him to take pain killer medicine in the field but due to the scare team management opted not to use him further in the match after he completed six-over spell despite he was expected to bowl two overs in the death.
The decision for the scan looked to have made thing complicated for Bangladesh as they have other injury issues as well to think about like Mashrafee bin Mortaza had a hamstring while Mustafizur Rahman pulled his calf muscle in the same match.
‘’We are expecting Saifuddin to be available in the opening game,’’ Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud said without elaborating further about the scan report.

‘’Though there is pain we are hopeful that he will be able to make it in the opening game. Probably he will need an [pain killing] injection and he had taken such an injection in the past too,’’ he added.
Bangladesh did not had any practice session on Thursday but as it appears they will be keenly looking forward how their cricketers respond in the next two days ahead of their opening game against the Proteas.
Mashrafe, who suffered a hamstring on his right leg that he sustained during the tri-nation in Ireland was in doubt to play against India but played eventually after being cleared in the morning.
Though he played against India but it looked to have back fired to some extent as he pulled hamstring on his left leg this time round that forced him to leave the ground at the midway of the Indian innings and also resisted him from coming down to bat.
I think he is not injured badly because it is just pulled his leg while playing the game but it is not that serious. He will just need a little bit of treatment to recover fully,’’ said Mahmud.
Tamim Iqbal did not play against India as precaution while Mahmudullah did not bowl against India only suggest that he is yet to recover fully from his shoulder injury.
Rubel Hossain also returned back to competitive cricket after recovering from a strain while Shakib al Hasan returned against India in their last warm up after recovering from back strain that forced him to miss the tri-nation final.
