Taylor unfazed by ‘Underdog’ tag

Who will win the World Cup? If you ask this question now, most of the people will say England, Australia and India. New Zealand, despite being the current runners-up and boasting second highest win in World Cup history after Australia, were never in people’s consideration. But veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor wouldn’t mind it. He rather prefers to be in the shed of other teams, stating that being seen as an underdog before going to the World Cup is their advantage, specially when it takes off the pressure.
“We enjoy the underdog tag. So, called favorites probably don’t go with us too well, it’s fine with us.” Taylor said.

But Taylor also thinks that their lack of matches in the recent months can become a pain in the stomach for them. New Zealand didn’t play any ODI match since February.
“England are favorite in this World Cup that what home advantage can do, we also played well back in our home condition. We just had a series against Australia; we haven’t played as much as we can.”
But Ross Taylor played for Sussex in the County cricket to get accustomed with English pitch and condition. He believes it will give him the advantage in the forthcoming World Cup.
Taylor thinks home crowd will be an added advantage for England as they go into the World Cup as one of the favorites to lift the trophy this time.
“Home condition gives England an edge, that why they are favorites. The fans will be right behind them, but I am sure other team will also want to knock them out.’’
