Rubel eyes to be among the top-five

Bangladesh’s speed star Rubel Hossain expressed his desire to be on the bracket of top five bowlers in the upcoming World Cup. He wants to help Bangladesh to win matches as he did many times before.
“I want to bowl well. And I also want to help the team to win with good bowling. If I get the chance I will try to give my level best. The whole world looks forward to this tournament. If I can play every match and perform well, my target is to be on the list of top five bowlers.”
But Rubel’s expectation would be difficult to match. Rubel suffered a side strain injury in Dhaka premier league. This injury troubled him in the Ireland too. But, now he is fully fit. Nevertheless being fully fit doesn’t insure his place in the eleven.
Because in time of his injury Mohammad Saifuddin secured his place in the eleven along with Mashrafe and Mostafiz. Team management is now favoring Saifuddin over Rubel. Breaking into the eleven would be a big task for Rubel in the World Cup. And Rubel ensures that if he gets the chance he will give his all to give his best.
“If they give me the opportunity and I can be on the field, I will try to give my best. Everybody wants to perform, I want that too. I am just waiting for that opportunity.’’ Rubel said.
The hero of the 2015 World Cup Rubel Hossain thinks that pacers will change the course of the game in this high scoring world cup. He believes there is no alternative of good pace bowling if Bangladesh wants to win.
“In England 300 and 350 runs are very common. It’s tough for the bowlers. If we want to win, pacers have to bowl well. A lot of things will depend on the pacers. Doing well here is a big challenge for us.’’ Rubel said.
And indeed, it looks like a very tough challenge for the Bangladeshi bowlers. As Bangladeshi pace attacks aren’t as strong as the others. But Bangladesh has experience with Mashrafe and Rubel and youth with Mustafiz and Saifuddin in their pace bowling unit. If they bowl to their strength they can trouble anyone. Rubel believes bowling according to the plan will be very important. Because the wickets will be rare in England and runs will be plenty.
“We will have to plan about bowling well in this type of wicket. I have to speak with both of my coach and captain. How to take wickets by giving fewer runs, we have to plan that. Everyone has been working hard on the new ball. We are also practicing our skill with the old ball too. I think something good will happen.”
Rubel’s bowling is very effective in this foreign condition. We have seen that in the 2015 world cup in Australia. Will Rubel once again come out with all guns blazing? Or not? Remains to be seen.
