Tigers get down to business

Bangladesh team will start their campaign in Ireland with a warm-up match against Ireland Wolves at the Beverly Hills Cricket Club on Sunday.


This will be the only warm-up game before Tigers take on the tri-nation involving Ireland and West Indies, scheduled to start on the same day with other two countries taking on each other in the Clontarf Cricket Club.


The practice match which is scheduled from 4.45 pm Bangladesh time will give a perfect platform for Tigers to get acclimatize with the foreign condition ahead of their opening game against West Indies, scheduled on May 7.


Bangladesh will be eyeing to tick all their boxes in the warm-up as they are well aware that they need to adapt to the condition as soon as possible despite it was totally opposite from the home condition.

While Bangladesh went to Ireland preparing in the heat on the other hand the temperature at that part of the world is extremely cold with an average temperature hovering around between six to eight degree celsius.


‘’It is totally different from our country and we need to adapt at the shortest possible time because difference in weather and condition will surely have an impact on our cricketers,’’ Minhajul Abedin told Cricfrenzy from Ireland on Saturday.


We know we need to make a positive start in the tri-nation and in-order to achieve that we have to take the confidence from the practice game by doing well. That will certainly boost our morale,’’ he said.


Harry Tactor will be the captain for Ireland Wolves in this practice match and he is expected to lead from the front considering his recent domestic from as well as his stint against with the same team against Sri Lanka earlier.  


Middle-order batsman James Shannon and pacer Tryon are in the squad against Bangladesh, they have recently returned from injury.



Irish selectors said that they will be keeping an eye on the overall development of their cricketers and insisted it will provide them with an opportunity to assess their strength and weakness.


‘’ Two matches will take place at the same day, this gives us an opportunity to keep an eye on over the performance of 22 players. ‘’ said Ireland Cricket’s chief selector Board Andrew White ahead of their game on Sunday.
