Former national cricketers opted to open up a new option in their career as they joined level-1 cricket coaching classed organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board in masses at the BCB academy premises on Thursday.

The coaching course with 27 participants will run from 02-06 May under Game Development of BCB at the NCA premises while the list of participants includes 16 national cricketers and seven first-class players.

So many cricket starlets of the past did not join this kind of coaching classes in the past since the inception of this coaching course by BCB.

As a result it opened up a question whether some of these cricketers, who still have some few more years to deliver at least in the domestic circuit, were seeing the end of their playing career and beginning to start thinking of a coaching career.

However, most of them apart from the ones who had already taken coaching roles as a profession, announced that it was not the case as they are yet to think that way rather wants to complete the fag end of their career knowing the game from the coaches perspective as their believe it will help them end their career on a high note.

Basically I am not thinking to quitting cricket all together as I still believe still I have got at least four to five years of cricket left in me.’’ Shahriar Nafees told reporters at the break during the classes.

‘’Firstly in countries like England Australia and South Africa or New Zealand you will see cricketers complete these kind of courses at the start  of their career but that is not the case in our country,’’ he said.

‘’Lot of people might think we have joined this class in order to pursue a coaching career but I am not seeing it that way,’’ he said.

‘’Rather we want to enhance our cricketing knowledge and if do taking coaching as a career it will certainly be helpful but for the moment we just wanted to develop our cricketing knowledge,’’ he said.

Former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful said that it will help them when they start a coaching career but at the present all they are looking forward to use these experience in the domestic cricket.

When we will start a coaching career it will certainly help but it can be beneficial even during the playing career,’’ said Ashraful.

‘’If we complete this course at least we will know such and such things happens in cricket,’’ he added.
